Sica Schmitz founded Bead & Reel based on her own tireless search for ethical fashion. Even as a Hollywood Costume Designer, she had a hard time finding beautiful clothing that met with her vegan and humanitarian values, so she decided to create the store she wanted to shop at. Bead & Reel is a mindful living community with a mission to connect brands, bloggers, and shoppers who aim to create a more compassionate world together. Started as a retail boutique, it has since expanded to become one of the top five sustainable fashion blogs, the leading ethical affiliate network, and a unique destination for sustainable services from consulting to personal styling.
Along with being a frequent speaker, writer, and sustainable stylist, Sica is also the creator of the non-profit Fair Trade Fashion Show and the Fashion Editor for Vilda Magazine. She can be found sharing about mindful living dozens of publications, podcasts, and events including Bustle, Origin Magazine, The Good Trade, Magnifeco, Liberty for Her, Vegan Life Magazine, the Animal Rights National Conference, and the Fair Trade Campaigns Regional Conference. Bead & Reel is the winner of the 2017 Sustainable Business Council award and a press favorite, including Forbes, Vogue partner site This Is Jane Wayne, mindbodygreen, and hundreds more mainstream and niche publications about ethical fashion.
